The castle of Salobreña was built by the arabs during an occupation period and later was passed to the Christians. It is an authentic historic relic that is set on top of the Rock in Salobreña.
The Muslims built this castle to rest, and to turn it into a resting spot for the kings like Yusuf I, who stayed there. It was later conquered by the Catholic King and Queen in 1489, and was later abandoned for its luck and later repaired in the XVIII century, to guard the area. It was built into a Fortress Castle.
Nowadays it is found completely restored and in 1949 it was declared CulturalHeritage monument by the UNESCO. It also has a special acknowledgement by the Junta de Andalucia.
It is a great place to visit and enjoy some incredible views and history.
